Photos and face analysis
When you choose an image, JavaScript on your device reads it, locates a face and creates a numeric face descriptor for comparison. We do not upload your photo or this descriptor to a server. We do not run a photo database of visitors or use visitor photos to train models.
The current photo and results remain in the open page’s memory. Use “Clear my photo and results,” choose “Try another photo,” or close the page to remove the active result. Clearing the page does not delete files you saved to your device.
Models and public reference photographs
Your browser downloads the face-recognition models, public celebrity gallery and website assets from our hosting provider, Cloudflare. These requests deliver the tool to you; they do not contain your selfie or face descriptor. Your browser may cache public models and assets for faster repeat visits.
Sharing is your choice
PNG share cards are created locally. Downloading saves a file on your device. If you send the card to a social app or another person, that destination receives a copy under its own policies. A challenge link contains a public celebrity ID only. It does not contain your photo, face descriptor or a private result record.
Optional analytics
With your consent, Google Analytics 4 measures page visits and general actions such as starting a sample, completing a comparison or downloading a card. We do not send uploaded file names, photos, face descriptors, matches, share-card images or URL fragments as analytics data. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled.
You may choose “Only essential” and still use every feature. You can change your choice through “Cookie preferences” in the footer. We save that choice locally in your browser. If you later withdraw consent, the analytics tag is disabled and the site attempts to clear its first-party analytics cookies. Previously collected data is governed by Google Analytics retention settings.
Basic hosting information
Cloudflare receives ordinary connection information, such as IP address, requested public file and browser headers, to deliver and secure this website. That is separate from face analysis. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy for their practices.
Contact and requests
If you email us, we receive your message and the email address you use. Messages sent to contact@starbyface.org are forwarded to our operator’s Gmail inbox so we can respond. Send only the information needed for your question.
For privacy requests, contact contact@starbyface.org. We cannot retrieve or delete a selfie from our servers because we do not receive it during matching.
